U14A Boys
Our u14 A team played at home Thursday against Ennis Town in a very entertaining game played in windy conditions we lost out this evening to one of the best u14 teams in the country. Playing against the wind we took an early lead after Adam Roche scored yet another cracking free kick. However the strong breeze played havoc and Ennis Town scored 3 quick goals in succession before the break and we went in 3-1 down at half time. Unfortunately in the second half we didn’t make more use of the wind and the game finished 4-2. Our second goal was a nicely taken headed goal by Patrick Carey. We had more of the ball and pushed hard for goals but we couldn’t take advantage of the wind. Disappointing in the end but a good effort against a very strong opponent. Hard luck boys.
U13 Boys
Yesterday evenings u13 fixture was always going to be a tough game for our boys, missing 8 players from the squad against a strong Avenue team wasn't going to be an easy task, Avenue went 1 up after a couple of minutes and scored 2 more goals in quick succession, 2 more goals were scored before the half as Avenue took full advantage of the very strong wind. Avenue came out in the second half pushing for more goals and they found the net early on, our lads didn't let this get to them and really stepped it up a gear, we pressed on numerous occasions but couldn't find the net until the 40th minute when Cillan Cotter scored a fantastic free kick from the left hand side of the pitch curling it over there keeper. Many of the lads were playing in unfamiliar positions but they didn't look out of place and put in a good shift. Well done to all the boys for putting in a great effort in tough conditions this evening.
