Our U16s faced a very strong Newmarket Celtic side this evening, missing several key players including our goalkeeper. Having been well beaten 4–0 in the reverse fixture, we knew this was always going to be a tough battle.

From the first whistle the lads showed incredible work rate and discipline, pressing hard and staying organised to hold Newmarket scoreless in the first half. Chances came for both sides after the break, but stand-in keeper Aiden Griffin produced some outstanding saves to keep us in the game.

Unfortunately, despite the tireless effort from every player, Newmarket broke through 15 minutes into the second half to edge ahead. Lady luck hasn’t been with us in recent weeks, but this was another fine performance full of heart, determination, and teamwork.

Results will turn if the lads keep performing like this – we couldn’t be prouder of the team tonight in what was a very good and tightly contested game.
