U16s Put on Dominant Display in Gallery Park Kilrush

On a miserable, wet evening in Kilrush, our U16s put in a dominant performance, scoring four past Ennis Town in the replayed fixture the original game having been abandoned after Rion Cotter’s unfortunate arm injury.

Despite creating plenty of early chances, it took until Shane Whelan got on the end of a cross to head home before the deadlock was broken. Zak O’Shea soon doubled our lead with a superb strike, though the Ennis Town keeper pulled off some excellent saves to keep his side in the game. At the other end, our own Cian Burke was just as sharp, producing a fine stop in a one on one situation.

Adam Roche added a neat third with a composed finish early in the second half, as the conditions worsened. In midfield, Rion Cotter and Lucas Danaher showed real dominance once again, dictating the play. Eoin Lucas came agonisingly close with a shot that went inches wide before Joe Lernihan finally got the goal he had been waiting for, rounding off the scoring.

There were excellent performances across the pitch with Darragh Coleman, Mikey Sexton, Conor Murphy, and the ever solid Patrick Carey all impressing. Sam O’Gorman and Ruari Young also contributed with some neat and tidy touches to round off what was a great night for the lads.

Well done boys and management!
