U13s Hit Top Gear With Biggest Win of the Season

Moneypoint U13s produced their best performance of the campaign with a resounding 8–2 victory over a Kilkishen side who had already beaten them twice earlier in the season.

The tone was set just three minutes in when James Fitzpatrick opened the scoring. On 15 minutes, Thomas Kelly doubled the lead with a superbly struck free kick from the edge of the box.

The home side were in full flow, and when Moneypoint were awarded a free kick from 35 yards, Roan Mahony took full advantage of the strong wind to fire an unstoppable effort past the keeper. Moments before half-time, Kelly grabbed his second of the game to make it 4–0 at the break.

Kilkishen came out fighting and pulled one back just two minutes into the second half, but Lucas Mulvihil restored the four-goal cushion on 41 minutes. The visitors refused to lie down and scored again, but Moneypoint responded in ruthless fashion — Cillian Cotter netting twice in the space of two minutes.

As the game drew to a close, Roan Mahony struck again to cap off a memorable team performance and secure a famous 8–2 win for Moneypoint.

Special mention must also go to Jack Walsh, who stepped in for John Carey between the posts and pulled off some outstanding saves to deny Kilkishen further chances.
