Our U17 boys finally got back to action yesterday after a long break caused by pitch conditions, weather, and referee availability. Against a strong Bridge Utd side, the lads had to dig deep and produced a solid defensive display in the first half, only going behind just before the break.

A reshuffle in formation in the second half saw the lads respond brilliantly, with Conor Murphy who worked tirelessly throughout levelling the game with a superb long-range strike.

Chances came and went at both ends, but Bridge regained the lead after breaking the offside trap. As our lads pushed hard for an equaliser, Bridge struck again on the counter to seal the tie with a 3-1 win.

There were battling performances all over the pitch, especially from Dan Keena, the returning Lucas Danaher back from injury, Shane Whelan at the heart of the defence, Aiden Griffin, and Conor Murphy in midfield.

While it wasn’t to be for our lads this time, there were still plenty of positives to take, and the effort and determination shown throughout could not be faulted.

Well done also to Tristian and Marcel  on making their debuts for the club, a proud moment for both players and hopefully the first of many appearances to come. 👏⚽
