Our u17s travelled away to Tulla on Monday evening for a league clash on a damp night, and it proved to be a lively encounter from start to finish. Chances came at both ends early on before Tulla took the lead from a corner after a scramble in the box.

To our lads’ credit, their heads never dropped and they responded brilliantly. Some excellent football led to Murphy leveling the game with a neat finish before a wonder strike from Griffin put us ahead going in at the break.

The second half started much like the first with some sublime football and great passages of play from our lads. Tulla pushed hard for an equaliser, but the back line stood tall with determined displays from Whelan, Danaher, Coleman, Young and Lucas, with Lucas unfortunately forced off through injury.

In midfield, Griffin, Keena and Murphy worked tirelessly, while the outstanding Daly capped off a fantastic performance with our third goal after another superb team move. Skoczek came on for the injured Lucas and gave the Tulla defence a torrid time with his strength and hold-up play, and only a very tight offside call denied him a deserved goal.

Lernihan also put himself about brilliantly all evening and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after rattling the crossbar, while his link-up play throughout was excellent.

A big mention also to Burke, who pulled off some excellent saves and commanded his area superbly throughout the game.

Overall, a fantastic display from our lads against a strong and physical Tulla side who also played some very good football. Well done lads 👏⚽
