Moneypoint AFC travelled to Kildysart for an evening kick-off and started the game strongly against a very good Kildysart side. Both teams played some excellent football and created plenty of chances throughout the match.
Moneypoint came close to opening the scoring when a corner from Cian found Patrick Casey, who was unlucky not to score. Fyaz also tested the defence with a dangerous free kick from outside the box.
The game remained evenly balanced until Kildysart took the lead five minutes into the second half to make it 1-0. Moneypoint refused to give up and continued to push forward in search of an equaliser.
Their determination paid off in the final 10 minutes when Shay found the back of the net to level the game at 1-1. Shortly afterwards, Kildysart were awarded a penalty, but Cian produced a brilliant save to keep Moneypoint in the match.
With just five minutes remaining, Kildysart scored what proved to be the winning goal to make it 2-1. Despite the setback, Moneypoint battled right to the final whistle and never gave up.
It was a challenging game in very warm conditions, and both teams deserve great credit for their effort and commitment. While this was Moneypoint's first defeat, the players showed tremendous character, and it certainly won't stop them from continuing to improve and move forward.
