It was a huge game for our U14s this evening, knowing that a victory would secure a league play-off place.
Moneypoint started brightly, keeping the pressure on in the opposition half from the opening whistle and testing the Moher goalkeeper early. The breakthrough came from a corner, with Conor O'Shea finishing well at the back post to give us a deserved lead.
Our second goal was a superb team move as Lucas delivered an excellent cross which James Fitzpatrick cleverly flicked into the path of Roan, who finished brilliantly with a half-volley.
The third came after Dylan Coleman closed down a short kick-out, won possession, and played Roan through to calmly slot the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Just before half-time, Dylan deservedly got on the scoresheet himself, finishing from a tight angle with a strike that went in off the post to give Moneypoint a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.
The second half started much the same, with Moneypoint controlling midfield, pressing high, and playing some excellent football. Midway through the half, James Fitzpatrick added our fifth goal, collecting the ball on the left side of the box before calmly slotting past the goalkeeper.
It was an outstanding performance from every player. The work rate, teamwork, and determination shown throughout the match were exceptional.
A fantastic league campaign continues, and the reward is a league play-off against Avenue United next Thursday.
