*Moneypoint A bring Division 1 Shield Back to West Clare*
Moneypoint A secured the Division 1 Shield after a commanding 4-0 win over Shannon Town in today’s final — and on the balance of play, there was only ever going to be one winner.
Our lads set the tone early, taking control from the first whistle and never letting go. The opener came when TJ L struck low from just inside the box, finishing off a neat feed from Adam R to get the scoreboard moving.
It didn't take long for the second to follow. Good build-up play from Liam W and Daniel C carved the Shannon defence open, and Adam R was on hand to slot home low into the corner.
Moneypoint kept pushing for a third before the break, and Adam R obliged again — this time with a finish that mirrored his first, putting the game to bed at 3-0 by half-time. The boys just had to keep their composure to see it through.
Shannon came out fighting after the restart, throwing everything at Moneypoint in search of a way back into the game, but they found the West Clare rearguard in no mood to budge — some excellent defending and fine goalkeeping from John C kept them at arm's length throughout.
The result was put beyond any doubt when Adam R struck again, completing his hat-trick with an absolute netbuster from inside the box after the ball broke kindly to him from a corner clearance.
Overall, the boys started the game as hot favourites and had a job to do to prove that tag. They did so with ruthless efficiency. Captain Patrick C lifted the shield and brought the honours back to West Clare. Well done, boys!
